The school has recently achieved the Autism Awareness Award which demonstrates that provision for pupils with Autism meets national standards intended to support equality of access for ASC children. The Award sets the school apart from other providers, giving recognition of the fact that inclusive approaches are fully embedded throughout the year groups. We attended the award ceremony that included some excellent speakers on the autistic spectrum. Joe Jones, a professional photographer gave a particularly though-provoking speech about his difficult journey through the education system. Daniel Wakeford professional singer/songwriter, musician and of ‘The Undatables fame’ performed his inspirational music and was interviewed by his father in relation to his successes and how his diagnosis of autism has not held him back in any way. Quite the opposite! We are extremely proud to have been a part of the process in gaining the Autism Aware Award and having met the standards to achieve the award.
