We have many proud moments in our school year. One of our proudest is The “Anne Newson” Award Assembly. This Award is dedicated to the memory of a former Governor who, at an early age, passed away due to illness, some years ago. We honour her bravery, her resilience and her positivity by giving this yearly award to one child in every year group. Staff in the year group select the child who have shone throughout the year in all manner of ways and no matter what adversity might have beset them. These children truly reflect our MJS values.
We also have new award in memory of Ursula Woods called “The Spirit of Sport”, this is an annual award given to one child in the school for sport. This could be sporting achievements, sporting attitudes or an act of fair play and support for others. Congratulations to Hayden in Year 5 for winning this year’s award. This was awarded for an incredible act of sportsmanship during a recent Maidenbower Mile.
This morning we had a very emotional assembly, attended by parents and friends of the five chosen children. We heard in turn from their teachers as to why they are so deserving of the Award. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house by the end of the assembly!
Well done to such deserving winners. We are all immensely proud of you!
